Henry Sully’s Life Story : Chapter 2 – London

This is the second chapter in the story of Henry Sully: his relocation from his birthplace in Somerset, to the bustling metropolis where he completed a lengthy apprenticeship in the shop of the renowned clockmaker Charles Gretton.

Below is part of Morgan’s map of London in 1682, where one can see St. Paul’s cathedral on the right, and Fleet Street to its left, with the location of Charles Gretton’s shop shown by the red arrow. Sully was to spend the next eleven years of his life working and living there.
